The municipalities are responsible for testing by PCR. Please refer to the website of your local municipality for information on how testing is organised in your area.
Some municipalities also offer booking of appointments via helsenorge. (in Norwegian)
If possible, you should log in at Helsenorge.no to find the results of your PCR-test. The result of your test for the coronavirus will be available as soon as the test has been analysed and reported.
If you are unable to log on to helsenorge.no you will only be contacted if your test comes back positive. Some laboratories may provide alternative solutions other than helsenorge.no for presenting your test result, in which case you will be informed about the routines.

Three different types of tests are being used in Norway: PCR-based test, an antigen-based rapid-test, or a self-test.
There may be certain situations, for example when travelling, where special requirements for which tests to use apply. All test methods are however approved for testing if you have symptoms.
Self-test
Today, self-tests are mainly used. A self-test is an antigen-based rapid test that you can take yourself. This test is in most situations comparable to the other test methods.
Antigen-based rapid test
An antigen-based rapid test and a self-test are the same but the antigen-based rapid test is taken by health personnel - for example at a testing station.
The result of an antigen-based rapid test taken by health personnel is registered in the same way as for the standard PCR-based test, and you will find the test results at Helsenorge.no
PCR-test
The municipalities are responsible for testing by PCR and offer testing free of charge. A confirmatory PCR-test or confirmatory antigen-based rapid test taken by health personnel is no longer recommended for everyone who test positive on a self-test. For some groups, taking a confirmatory PCR-test is recommended.
